The power distribution source is shown at the top of a diagram page. All wires, connectors, and splices are shown in the same manner that the current flows, ending at the component/system being powered near the bottom of a diagram page. Circuits that go from one diagram page to another will be marked with large arrow heads. The power distribution diagrams can be found at Starting and Charging/Power and Ground Distribution. Page 33 Keyless Entry Module: Testing and Inspection PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE NOTE - A maximum of four keyless entry remote transmitters can be programmed for each Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) module. Programming must be done at the same time for all the transmitters. - To enter programming mode, first verify that the battery is fully charged and that the anti-theft system is not armed or triggered (if equipped). 1. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to ON five times within ten seconds, ending in ON. 2. Press any button on the keyless entry remote transmitter. NOTE: If the RAP module successfully entered program mode, it will LOCK then UNLOCK all doors. 3. To program additional keyless entry remote transmitters, repeat step two. NOTE: The door locks will LOCK then UNLOCK to acknowledge that the keyless entry remote transmitter has successfully been programmed. 4. When finished programming all transmitters, turn the ignition switch OFF. NOTE: The door locks will LOCK then UNLOCK one last time to indicate the new transmitters have been programmed and program mode is now exited. Engine Cooling Fan Module - Service Information Radiator Cooling Fan Motor Relay: Technical Service Bulletins Engine Cooling Fan Module Service Information Article No. 97-10-4 05/12/97 ^ ENGINE COOLING FAN - MODULE COMPONENT SERVICE INFORMATION ^ COOLING FAN - MODULE COMPONENT SERVICE INFORMATION FORD: 1994-97 ESCORT, MUSTANG, TAURUS 1995-97 CONTOUR LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1994-97 CONTINENTAL, MARK VIII, SABLE, TRACER 1995-97 MYSTIQUE LIGHT TRUCK: 1994-97 VILLAGER, WINDSTAR ISSUE: Currently, Service Manuals indicate that the Motor and Fan Assembly-Engine Cooling (-80607-) should/can be serviced at the component level: Engine Cooling Fan Motor (-8k621-), Shroud (-8146-), and Fan Blade (-8600-). This information is incorrect. The Motor and Fan Assembly-Engine Cooling (-8C607-) should only be serviced as an assembly. The assembly is dynamically balanced at the Original Equipment Manufacturer and should not be disassembled into its component parts. If the assembly is serviced at the component level, the assembly balance could be adversely affected, and a possible durability and Noise/Vibration/Harshness (NVH) issue may arise. ACTION: Service only the Motor and Fan Assembly-Engine Cooling (-8C607-). Do not service the Engine Cooling Fan Motor (-8K621-), Shroud (-8146-), or the Fan Blade (-8600-). Servicing only the assembly will eliminate durability and NVH issues related to component replacement. Refer to the following text for details. Electric Cooling Fan Blades (-8600-), Motors (-8K621-), and Shrouds (-8146-) will no longer be serviced separately. These components will only be serviced in Cooling Fan Module Assemblies (-8C607-). Refer to the Ford Part Manuals Base (-8C607-) for part number. INSTALLATION Page 63 Electronic Brake Control Module: Description and Operation PRIMARY FUNCTIONS The two primary functions of the anti-lock brake control module are control of the hydraulic anti-lock actuator during ABS operation and system monitoring during normal driving, as well as during anti-lock braking. Under normal braking conditions, the microprocessor produces short test pulses to check the electrical system without any mechanical reaction. The anti-lock brake control module continuously monitors the speed of each wheel to determine if any wheel is beginning to lock. When a wheel locking tendency is detected, the anti-lock brake control module signals the appropriate isolation valve in the hydraulic anti-lock actuator to open or close as well as the pump motor to turn "ON" and return brake fluid back to the base braking system. OPERATION The anti-lock brake control module monitors the electromechanical components of the system. Malfunction of the anti-lock brake system will cause the anti-lock brake control module to shut off or inhibit the system. However, normal power assisted braking remains. Malfunctions are indicated by the ABS warning indicator inside the vehicle. The anti-lock brake system is self-monitoring. When the ignition switch is placed in the "RUN" position, the anti-lock brake control module will perform a preliminary self check on the anti-lock electrical system indicated by a two to three second illumination of the amber anti-lock brake warning indicator in the instrument cluster. At 6.4 km/in (4 mph), the valves and motor will be powered briefly to verify proper function. During vehicle operation, including normal and anti-lock braking, the anti-lock brake control module monitors all electrical anti-lock functions and some hydraulic operations. DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC). Most faults that occur in the anti-lock brake system will be stored as a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) in the NVRAM (non-volatile random access memory) of the anti-lock brake control module. Once a DTC is stored, it will be retained by the anti-lock brake control module even with the key in the "OFF" position. DTCs can be retrieved by following the on-board diagnostics procedures. Page 86 Radiator Cooling Fan Motor Relay: Description and Operation Constant Control Relay Module (CCRM). Constant Control Relay Module The CCRM controls the A/C clutch and engine cooling fan motor operation based on signals received from the A/C cycling switch, the A/C pressure transducer, and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The CCRM deactivates the A/C clutch when signaled by the PCM. The A/C clutch is deactivated in this manner under the following conditions: - Engine start-up. - Wide Open Throttle (WOT). - During engine low idle conditions. - Excessively high engine temperature.
